Also I just read that people from all over Europe are traveling to Sweden to escape their own lockdowns. They don’t seem too worried. Should they not be allowed to do this? Should Sweden be forced into compliance and if so, how?

As for me, I will worry about the things that kill significantly larger numbers of people in the world that are more preventable. Those people are just as dead as the c-19 deaths (if the c-19 numbers can even be trusted) but in much larger numbers. I don’t understand why you think c-19 deaths are somehow more tragic.

Do the numbers again; worldwide 922 cases per million population. 53 per million deaths (now that we know they are conflating probable cases and deaths these numbers are likely considerably lower) . Then try to see if you can justify the many other truly preventable things that kill people in hugely greater numbers and try to figure out why your narcissistic attachment to this rather minor virus is worth forgetting about the people who die of hunger and other communicable diseases. Things can be done about these and so many other things. If you truly care about human suffering then prioritize on the greater suffering or you can hang onto the attention you get from this. I couldn’t live that way!

This is an election year in the US so anything that can embarrass the incumbent has something like extra bosons in it to add mass and gravity. Same with the Floyd thing. In Europe I have my own speculations. The rest of the world is collateral damage. But from what I see the important thing is to get the numbers as high as possible without even the need for proof of exposure.

I don't think wild guestimates are really very helpful ,
though I guess they're inevitable.

It matters little now.
We have over 7million known cases
and God alone knows how many more.

It has been on a constant and consistent rising trajectory ,
since mid March , heading into orbit ,
and still not wavering from that trajectory.

Time alone will give all the answers.

The southern hemisphere is now going into winter , so can expect problems anywhere they haven't got a handle on it.

The northern hemisphere has a few months of summer now ,
to get a grip ,
and if any continue to fail , who knows what the consequences may be next winter.

It is so well , and widespread established now ,
I believe it will be an ongoing threat ,
untill vaccination immunity can be at least partially achieved ,
so we're talking 3 or 4 years.

Hopefully there will be enough progress to at least protect the most vulnerable sooner than that ,
and signs are there will be.

But it is just a fairy story to think it will all be over soon , with vaccinations for all who want or need them.

One of the bigger worries ,
is that with such rampant worldwide spread ,
that it could mutate into something more deadly to everyone.

Consider where other epidemics and pandemics have come from.

Bird flu
Swine flu
Nile River v
Ebola
HIV

Now consider ,
all around the world possibly infected humans are feeding all these risk hosts ,
often including possible infected food.

Like here , all the restaurants , supermarkets and fruit shops etc who give their waste and leftovers to pig farmers.

All the chooks around farm homesteads and lifestyle blocks , feeding on scraps and anything they can get their beaks on.

There's millions/billiins of animals around the world vulnerable to any possible human infection.

It only takes one.
