Jimin continues to rewrite history, breaking records with each achievement. Even while fulfilling his mandatory military service, the BTS star has maintained impressive momentum in his solo career. His latest milestone celebrates the success of Who, the lead single from his second album Muse, released in July 2024, further solidifying his star power.
As reported by Soompi, Jimin’s single Who has crossed the 100 million views mark on YouTube on April 11 at approximately 4:08 PM KST. Released on July 19 last year, it took over eight months for the music video to achieve such a record. This is not the only record that his song Who has achieved. As reported earlier, Jimin’s Who also became the longest-charting K-pop song of all time on Billboard’s Hot 100. Last month, the above-mentioned media outlet reported that the 29-year-old singer’s song climbed back up to No. 29 in its 33rd consecutive week on the chart, which ranks the most popular songs in the US in a given week.
The single from Jimin’s album Muse even dethroned a BTS classic. It left behind the septet’s smashing hit Dynamite, which spent 32 weeks on the chart upon its release back in 2020. That’s right! Jimin did not just break any record but his own group’s record.
And not just the lead single, but Jimin’s entire second solo album has been breaking one record after another. Muse reportedly reached another record as the longest-charting K-pop solo album on the Billboard 200, rising to No. 134 in its 34th consecutive week on the chart.
Speaking of Muse, Jimin released his second album on July 19, 2024, through BigHit Music. It comprises seven songs, including Closer Than This, the pre-release single Smeraldo Garden Marching Band feat. Loco and the chartbuster hit lead single Who. The album debuted at number two in South Korea and number three in Japan.
As for Jimin, the 29-year-old has been serving in the South Korean military since December 2023. He enlisted alongside his bandmates RM, V and Jungkook as an active duty soldier at the Army 5th Division Recruit Training Center in Yeoncheon. Jimin, along with the remaining BTS members, is scheduled to complete his service by June of this year.
