Basic Fixes
- Update and reinstall Facebook: Outdated Facebook apps can cause notification issues. Check the Google Play Store for updates or reinstall the app.
- Disable Data Saver Mode: Data Saver mode on Android may prevent Facebook notifications. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Data Saver and toggle it off.
Fix 1: Check Notifications Settings on Facebook
If the basic fixes don’t work, check the notification settings within the Facebook app. Here’s how:
Step 1: Open the Facebook app > tap the three lines at the top right.
Step 2: Tap on Settings & privacy > Settings.
Step 3: Under Preferences, tap on Notifications.

Step 4: Scroll down to Where You Receive Notifications and tap Push.

Step 5: Ensure Mute Push Notifications is off and the others are on.
Fix 2: Check Notifications Settings on Your Phone
Step 1: Go to Settings on your Android device.
Step 2: Tap on Apps > See all apps > Facebook.

Step 3: Tap Notifications and toggle your preferred options on.

Fix 3: Clear Cache and Data
If the notification settings are correct but the issue persists, clear the cache data.
Step 1: Open Phone Settings > Apps > See all apps > Facebook.

Step 2: Tap on Storage & cache > Clear cache.

Note: Clearing the data will log you out of the Facebook app, so ensure you know your login details.
Fix 4: Enable Background Data Usage
Check if background data usage is enabled for the Facebook app. If not, this may be why you aren’t receiving notifications. Here’s how to enable it:
Step 1: Go to Settings > Apps > See all apps > Facebook.

Step 2: Tap on Mobile Data & Wi-Fi > enable Background Data.

Fix 5: Allow Unrestricted Battery Usage
Some phones limit background activities to reduce battery usage. Ensure this restriction isn’t applied to your Facebook app. Here’s how:
Step 1: Open Settings > go to Apps > See all apps > Facebook.

Step 2: Tap on App battery usage > select Unrestricted.

Fix 6: Reset App Preferences
If none of the above solutions work, reset your app preferences. This will reset all app settings on your device. Here’s how:
Step 1: Go to Settings > Apps > See all apps.

Step 2: Tap the three dots at the top right > select Reset app preferences.
Step 3: A pop-up will appear asking for confirmation. Select Reset apps.

Note: Resetting app preferences reset preferences for all apps. So, you may have to reconfigure settings for other apps as well.
