Sacramento CA has no manholes, or manhole covers in
its piping systems. A number of years ago a female mayor decreed that from that day on they would be referred to as PERSONHOLES. True Fact, I read the
Sacramento Bee on the day it happened.

 

Personally, I feel like this politically correct stuff gets to carried away. That's my opinion. A person-hole that's stupid and so is a lot of it. :!: :!:

We are called the Human race. Not Huwoman race. In short, people call us "men." It's not referring to the sexes, because we all are about the same size, look the same, except the wonderful differences

Politically correct stuff pisses me off. I have nothing against mentally retarded people. But that's what I call them. It's what I was told to call them, and now people say "Oh, he's just a mentally special person." No offense to anybody at all with that. Just how I feel about it.

 

When I worked in a grocery store, I had a friend who referred to the Maxi-Pads as "Man-hole covers."

 

Ditto! I recently was chewed out for using the term half-breed. The funny thing is, I was talking about myself. I tend to call a group of people guys, which a lot of women don't like. I say, get over it, or don't listen to me talk.

 

You should start a petition to have them named "Access Holes", or simply "A-Holes" for short.

 

Cher calls herself that, and has a song called that.
Its very good.

 

In college, I remember hearing a lot that our language itself has a gender bias. I don't completely buy into the reasoning behind engendered male and female usage, but the sexist nature of English, pronouns especially, is undeniable. It has actually been suggested that we introduce new, gender-neutral pronouns.

I only add this as something to think about. Does it justify some of the stupidly overdone political correctness out there? Not at all. But remember - your language really does shape how you think.

Actually, I agree with you. English is a very masculine language, just like German. Both of which are very sexy languages.

 

Fuck Politically Correct. The real problem is not saying what we think. The real problem is assimilation phenomenon where we change the things we say but don’t change the way we think.

 

What about the word MANKIND?

Maybe in order to understand mankind we have to look at that word itself.
MANKIND. Basically, it is made up of two separate words "mank" and "ind."

What do these words mean? It's a mystery and so is mankind.

If you want to attack someone for gender bias, perhaps we all need to take a look at the Muslim extremist. WHOA!!!

 

I grew up in Leicester in the 70s and 80s. There's a big asian and afro-carib community in Leicester. When I was growing up it was fairly common for any non-white residents to be refered to, sometimes whilst they were in earshot, as pakis, wogs, brownies, darkies, nig-nogs, etc. This is now considered politically incorrect and would not happen to anywhere near the same degree. I am extremely glad of it and if the price of this is that some people take it a bit too far and the tabloids make a bi fuss about it then that's a price I'm prepared to pay.

Don't ever forget how far we've come and how easily we could slip back.
